Let Me Up-Graze You #2

Let Me Upgraze You #2

Vanilla Almond Protein Granola Topper | Nope. I did not like this one at all. I was excited for this because I like my yogurt to have a bit of a crunch, especially because of how filling it can be. I was playing Pokemon Go with my sister and roommate and we came back in for a break. I took the chance to try this because a refreshing bowl of yogurt with the granola sounded perfect. I took one bite and felt disappointment. The blend was bland and I couldn’t even taste the vanilla. I am not a big fan of pumpkin so I was concerned about the pumpkin seed but I couldn’t taste it either. If you just want a crunch to your yogurt, then this is it, but if you need something more than just something crunchy, you probably won’t like this. I solved it by adding a tablespoon, if not more, of honey to add some sweetness that it was missing.

Let Me Up-Graze You #1: Original Fruity Flapjack & Snickerdoodle Dip

Let Me Upgraze You #1

Just in case you were curious as to what this is, this is a monthly segment I am posting on my blog, unsponsored, about my review on the snacks that I receive every month from Graze Box. I thought it would be cute to call this “Let Me Up-Graze You,” get it? Let me know what you think in the comments below! Don’t forget my Graze Box code at the end of this post.

Original Fruity Flapjack | I just finished my morning walk when I decided to try this out because it looked like a good breakfast snack. I have never had rolled oats but the light switch flipped and I fell in love. This snack is soft and chewy. The apricots add some sweetness while the rolled oats fill you up until you can eat again. I am pretty sure that there is some kind of agave or honey, correct me if I am wrong because it has a nice sweetness that I don’t think is just from the apricots. A great breakfast snack if you are on the road or if you have to devour something right before class starts.

Snickerdoodle Dip | I wasn’t sure how to feel about this but I decided that I should give it a chance. The cinnamon pretzel sticks are sturdy and go through the snickerdoodle dip without breaking. I really like that since it is the most frustrating thing when whatever starch you have just breaks in the dip, am I right? The cinnamon pretzel sticks don’t really have much flavor at all. The dip is where it is at. I think that this is a good snack to have in the afternoon or mid-morning because it is sweet but not too sweet.

My rating system is like that of Graze Box when you determine if you TRASH, TRY, LIKE, or LOVE the snack. Obviously, TRY will not be something I will rate it as.

Rating:
Original Fruit Flapjack: LOVE
Snickerdoodle Dip: LIKE

Review_ Graze Box

Before I begin, this post is not sponsored and I am not being asked by anyone from Graze Box to do this. I just want to share my opinion about the snacks so if you are interested in any of these, then you can set your preferences. Also, there is a code that you can use to get your 1st and 5th box free. This is just a promo code that they send in all boxes. I do not gain anything other than people to talk to about these snacks! I have heard of Graze Box and know of their brand from YouTubers when they were on their rise a couple years ago. I never felt that I should spend the money on it because I didn’t feel that it fit my lifestyle. I decided to give it a try when I got a coupon from my Fabletics order. I decided, why not? I took the chance to get a sampler box from Graze Box.

I never felt that I should spend the money on it because I didn’t feel that it fit my lifestyle. I decided to give it a try when I got a coupon from my Fabletics order. I decided, why not? I took the chance to get a sampler box from Graze Box. I am keeping my subscription but only so that they charge me $13.99 every month rather than every week.

20930778_10155555026140138_1390698829_o

Yes, I definitely ate the top left one before taking this photo because I forgot! I got this box within a couple of days, which is nice! I actually already ate two of them which I will make a post about as an update. Maybe called “Let Me Up-Graze You”? Like update, but graze, get it? What I wasn’t expecting was being charged for another box so soon. Graze Box sends out snack boxes to you every week, two weeks, three weeks, or month. You set your preference. I thought I wasn’t going to get charged since I was only expecting my free sample box and then thinking about keeping my subscription.

I fixed the subscription and now I will only get a box every month. However, I feel like that wasn’t told to me beforehand because, by the time I found out I was charged, it was already too late. The reason why I am keeping this subscription is due to the fact that having snacks when I am school is perfect. These are just small enough to fit in your backpack or purse when on campus. I also think that these are great for me because when I get stressed I don’t tend to eat much. I am excited that these are all different flavors so I am not stuck with the same snacks every time.

If you break down the price of the snacks, each snack is approximate $1.74. They don’t charge shipping which is nice. Not to mention that if you really fall in love with a certain snack, they list out all the ingredients and give you a nutritional fact card that has all the other information. You can make your favorites in bulk.

The two images above are from the Graze Box that got charged to my card. I am interested in all of them. I am excited to eat them too. Once a month I will do a post that goes over each of the snacks.

Have you tried Graze Box? Which is your favorite?

Wanderlust #18: New York | Kossar’s Bakery and Deli and Doughnut Plant

IMG_1155

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I love food. So, I wanted to give a little shout out to some of the awesome food that I had in New York.

Don’t hurt me because I don’t have any photos of Kossar’s Bakery and Deli but I do want to talk about it because it was so good! When in New York, you “have” to get a bagel, right? Before arriving in New York, I ate cream cheese and salmon bagels and Kossar’s just blew my bagels out of the water. I will say that it must be the way the workers were but they were very stoic and I felt intimidated to order. However, I just followed my friend’s lead. I ordered the White Hot after they told me that they ran out of salmon. The White Hot: Whitefish salad, schmears roasted jalapeno-caper cream cheese, pickled red onions, and lettuce. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.  Holy cow, this was absolutely amazing. I cannot tell you how nice it was to eat something fishy that didn’t bombard you with the knowledge that you were definitely eating fish. The flavors worked beautifully from the tanginess of the capers that underlie the cream cheese to create a delicious spread. The lettuce and onion added the perfect crunch to the bagel as a whole.

IMG_1153

Doughnut Plant is just everything I want in a cake doughnut. If you are expecting more of a Krispy Kreme, you might want to look elsewhere. However, if you love interesting flavors, go here! I ended up with the Rose Petal, Red Velvet, and Manhattan Cream. I bought the rose one because it sounded so interesting. The petal was edible and not hard to eat. The doughnut itself is very light in flavor but isn’t like your traditional doughnut. If you want something plainer, the Rose Petal is for you. The Red Velvet is something I couldn’t pass up and it was everything I wanted. The perfect doughnut. The Manhattan Cream is like the Boston Cream doughnut, which is why I bought it, and it didn’t disappoint.

Recipe: Healthy Chicken and Feta Salad

Over the years, I have become less inclined to use ranch as my dressing of choice. I generally choose Ceasar dressing but I have also been loving Aldi’s Tahini Goddess dressing. I have also become obsessed with romaine lettuce. For some reason, it never occured to me to buy romaine lettuce when I love Chipotle lettuce aka romaine lettuce. I just don’t think sometimes. Anyway, please enjoy this tasty salad and let me know in the comments your favorite way to make salad!

IMG_1669

What you will need:
Romaine lettuce
Chicken
Tahini Goddess salad dressing
Mushroom
Onion
Feta Cheese
Salt
Pepper

Steps:
1. Heat up a pan, put a quarter size amount of oil in the pan, and wash your romaine lettuce.

2. Cut your romaine lettuce into 3/4″ to 1″ width chunks.

3. Put your chicken into the pan. I purchase the Tyson Chicken Breast Strips from Sam’s Club.

4. Wash and cut mushrooms and onions. Add salt and pepper to taste to the chicken while washing and cutting the mushrooms and onions.

5. Add mushrooms and onions to the pan with the chicken. Depending on how tender you want them.

6. Plate your romaine lettuce then chicken, mushrooms, and onions, then dressing, and then feta cheese.

Done!

Recipe: Morning Hash

I have found in my most recent habits that everything that takes too long is just not worth it when I need to get other things done. However, now that I am on summer break from university, it has been a joy to just take some time out of my morning to make breakfast. I also just realized that the last time I posted a recipe (and just that) was last Memorial Day season. Yikes!

IMG_1663

What you will need:
Hash browns
Mushrooms
Green Peppers
Onions
Cheese (optional)
Salt
Pepper
Paprika
Cumin

Steps:
1. Prep hash browns as needed. The box I bought required the hash browns to be soaked in warm water for fifteen minutes.
2. Wash and cut veggies of your choice. Heat your pan with a dash of oil.
3. Put hash browns into the pan and let a warm golden coat to form or just cook until tender.
4. Add seasonings.
5. Add veggies.
6. Stir and let the veggies and hash browns mix together for about five minutes. Add water as needed since the hash browns will probably want to stick to the pan.
7. Plate your hash browns and then add cheese (if desired).

Done! Send me photos on Twitter if you make this! What is your favorite breakfast food?

Tea Time, Story Time #3: Snow Day + Snow Cream Recipe + Chicken Corn Chowder Recipe!

Garden Tea & Coffee Covent Garden London English Afternoon Tea

I still cannot believe that 2016 treated me so well with the chance to spend 2 1/2 weeks in the beautiful London for fun. I had so much fun and I am glad I could bring some goodies back with me. One of the goodies is this wonderful English Afternoon Tea. When I purchased this tea, I asked the clerk what is the difference between English Breakfast, English Afternoon, and English Evening tea. She told me that it was the intensity of the flavor in the tea. It was around 4:30 PM, so why not make a tea with the word “afternoon” in it?

15935539_10154833463555138_1461601854_o

This tea is quite bland in taste, unlike English Breakfast, so I put sugar in it. I think that next time, I will put milk in and see if there is a difference. I steeped my tea in my seahorse (any name ideas?) and it is a great addition to my sea collection. I think that, although not my favorite, and is a good introduction to adding a little something. I do think that a stronger tea may entice a non-tea drinker but if you don’t want to go head first, try something like English Afternoon.

I am snowed in! I cannot tell you how much I love snow. I was so happy to wake up at noon today and see that it was still snowing. I will say that I am sad that it is starting to melt but it will be freezing again because it is so cold. My backyard, above, is so beautiful. Sadly, the dog my roommate has ran all through it so it isn’t perfect but I will get what I can take. I am just sad that it didn’t happen a little later. I start college back on Monday and don’t really want to go back just yet since I was sick for half of it.

Snow cream! My sister made snow cream from the fluffy snow that had landed on my car. Since the ground can be kind of sketchy. Anyway, a recipe for all of my Fleeters who want to have a little fun with the snow without freezing outside. Here are the ingredients to make your own snow cream.

Vanilla extract
Milk
Sugar

Add all of the above as you see fit. My roommate said for every one part snow, do one part of milk, vanilla extract, and sugar.

15935334_10154833677870138_491300346_o

Because of the chilly weather and being snowed in, my sister (Nerd Esteem) and I decided to make chicken corn chowder in our crockpot.

2 chicken breasts
1 stick of butter
1 block of cream cheese
4 cups of chicken stock
1 onion
3 red potatoes (2 if they are large)
1 box of rotini pasta (cooked separately from chowder)
1 can of corn
3 tablespoons of minced garlic
salt
pepper
parsley
chives
oregano

Seasonings are to taste but if you can season the chicken, onions, and potatoes before filling in the crock pot with liquids, it would be nice. Set your crockpot for 4-5 hours on high or 7-8 on low.

If you make either the snow cream or chicken corn chowder, tag me!

What is the weather like for you right now?

Tea Time, Story Time #1: Yogi Tea + My Crush Knew…

I thought that this would be a fun little idea to introduce to you all. I like to drink tea (and sometimes coffee) so I thought it would be a lot of fun to do a tea review and also share a story with all of you. I will separate the tea time and story time so that if you prefer to read one over the other, you can absolutely do so! Give this a “like” if you want to see more. Also, grab yourself a drink of your choice and have fun reading.

Yogi Lemon Ginger Tea

I started to drink this because it was already in the house and because my throat has bee bothering me. I came back from London with an awful kind of cough because of the air from the train. I brewed a large cup of this throughout the day and added about a tablespoon of honey to help remedy my throat. I will say that it doesn’t really help with my throat but I didn’t have digestion problems at all.

Taste: This has a nice lemon taste and I don’t normally like ginger but when you drink, the aftertaste hits you with a sharp hit. The sharpness of the aftertaste is the ginger and it can be quite strong if you don’t normally have ginger in your diet. I will say that the taste is rather tame aside from the ginger and would be really good to drink after dinner when you are winding down for the night.

Story Time: My Crush Knew…

Well, I don’t have the best luck with men and that is due to the fact that I don’t present myself as a possibility and that they always fall for my best friend or person I am close with. I met a boy who worked at the same program as me in Italy. He lives up north, so not an Italian boy (sorry to disappoint). But, the first time I saw him, he was shirtless…well darn. This was during my second weekened when I climbed a mountain and he was with friends. I actually remember that he knew my name and I don’t know how. I am assuming he knew because one of my roommates happened to be the girl he was interested in.

I don’t want to get in to too much detail but let’s just say that my feelings kind of grew over the next three weeks of the program. I knew that nothing would happen and I didn’t want it to because it would be unfair to anyone to start a relationship long distance after only a short period of time. I actually found out that he knew that I liked him on our last day in Italy. Some drama happened and he had mentioned that we were never going to work out, he had been drinking and so I thought he meant him and my roommate. I didn’t realize until the next morning when he had messaged me that he was referring to us and that he was sorry that my feelings were hurt but he didn’t want to hurt me by dragging me along. I received apologies from both him and my roommate. I, honestly, didn’t care because I was more upset that the boy I liked was hurt. I am sure my roommate was hurt in some ways but there are aspects of what she did that I don’t necessarily think were the right decisions in regards to me and the boy.

Nevertheless, I feel like this experience of having my crush know and yet he was an absolute gentleman about not dragging me along at all. I grew to care for him as a friend and I told him that. I may still have feelings for him but I have learned that our friendship is more important to me than any kind of romantic relationship. I think what shocks me the most, still, is that he didn’t try to drag me along or mess with my feelings. I am glad that there are actual people out there who won’t manipulate you for sport or for their own gain. I am still good friends with my roommate, too. I know that they might not ever speak to each other again after what happened but I do know that they are still my friends.

Well, that is my story time for now!
