Life Update: Graduation, Summer Work and more!

My life has changed so much and yet so little. I wanted to update you on everything that has happened. Also, the above picture is unfiltered and just me smiling and purely happy with my life at this very moment.

I graduated. Yup, you read that right. I just graduated from college after a six-year journey that has led me with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Costume Design. I am so happy to have graduated with amazing people and I hope to continue working with many of them in the future. It has officially been a little over a month it doesn’t seem real but my mind and body are truly at peace.

I am working my first real paid job. As many of you know, I have worked before and it has been minimum wage and I have also worked for free without housing or stipend. I have “paid my dues” so to speak and it has paid off. Let me know in the comments if you want to hear more about what I have done in the past in terms of work and why I chose to work where I did. I am working in Massachusetts until end of July. In July, I am leaving to go back home for about two weeks before heading to New York.

I am moving to New York. You know, I never really thought that I would move right out of school. Technically, a summer away counts, right? I am moving there for an apprenticeship that I had two interviews with and then “the call.” I am so happy that I will be able to work with amazing designers and artists to create theatre. Of course, my end goal is still to work in the film industry but this is a great way to gain contacts and really get to know the city.

Blogging tossed to the wayside. I am 100% guilty of slacking on blogging because of finals and since graduation, it hasn’t really hit me. I won’t promise weekly blogging. It isn’t realistic for me in a lifestyle of working late a lot and preplanning doesn’t seem genuine unless they are my travel posts or something like that. So, I will post when I feel like it and let it go from there. I have seen a lot of YouTubers recently who are draining themselves creatively by sticking to a schedule. I don’t want to drain myself and I also don’t want to lose the community I have created on here.

Also, head over to my Instagram (link below) to see what I have been up to and to see more of my day to day life.

Sending lots of love.

New Year, Big Plans | Taylor Swift, Todrick Hall, and More!

001 New Year Big Plans

Oh my goodness! Happy New Year to everyone. I have been missing-in-action and I do hope that your holidays were relaxing! I have so many things to tell you all in such a short post. I am trying to post once a week now and I think that it will be great in terms of keeping up with everyone and also updating you on my life.

So, what has happened? Well, if you follow me on Instagram, then you will know that at the end of the year I went to the Disney World for the first time! I am probably going to talk about it once I get through all of my Berlin Wanderlust posts. It was an experience that was magical, hot, and overall a great bonding experience for me and my family…well, aside from a small incident but we will get to that later.

What can we look forward to? Well, the biggest things I have planned are…
1. Seeing Todrick Hall in concert for the second time.
2. Going to Raleigh Supercon again and meeting one of the most influential people in my childhood, Amy Jo Johnson.

Can you tell which one I am most excited about? I have wished to see Taylor Swift since I was listening to her singing “Teardrops on my Guitar” and cried seeing the montage video of “Sparks Fly,” highlighting the biggest moments in her Speak Now tour. I am so excited to see her in Toronto and also exploring such a beautiful city.

I also graduate college, finally! I don’t know what I am going to do exactly but I do know that I will have to figure it out eventually. I am happier that I have a semi-lighter schedule and hope to continue pushing myself rather than slacking off.

I think that was a concise rundown?

Wish Jars | Feng Shui Prosperity Tip | Make Your Dreams Come True | The Tao of Dana

Okay, so I may need to explain this one but I think it would be really cool for students to write down what they wish for their future and when the high school or college reunion comes around, see what did or did not come true. To get high schools and colleges involved, have them store it for safe keeping for however long until the reunion and then read them. I think it will help remind people of their youth or just remind them of how much harder they have to work to achieve their dream. Of course, it could be a silly wish. I am going to add additional things to what is above, let me know if it is confusing!

What you will need:
Jar- $1-3
Paper- $5 (depending on how much you buy)
Twine- $1-3

1. Write down your dream/wish.
2. Roll it up and tie it together with twine, snugly, because it will be gone for a long time!
3. Write your first and last name on either side of the twine so that whoever is passing them out down the road, they know who to give it to without having to open and read the dream/wish.

I hope that you all enjoyed these ideas!

Graduation Week | Good Breakfast Or None At All

Breakfast is said to be “the most important meal of the day” and most will agree. I do not normally eat breakfast and I get along just fine but I totally understand if you do. I think that when it comes to a big event that you shouldn’t feel forced or anything to eat when you don’t feel that you should. I have seen and heard many times when someone eats before they have a big event and then end up throwing up to share what they had…sort of.

Breakfast should be light, I think, when it comes to something big because that way it won’t make your stomach turn into too many knots and you will not be grumpy since you didn’t have any food. Graduations take so long to get by and can go from 1 hour to 3 hours! Seriously, can we at least get some food while we wait for the speakers to finish? Okay, I am kidding, but just eat something beforehand, at least an hour or so before so your stomach can digest the food a bit.

Also, don’t eat things that you know will make you gassy or have bad breath, definitely take some gum or mints before you go to any big event. Everyone at graduation will appreciate your sacrifice.

Many times I go without eating breakfast during something big and end up getting a grumbling stomach but it usually isn’t so bad because whether the news is good or bad, you can eat your feelings…but not so much that you become obsessed.

Anyway, I just wanted to share something light with you all about food!

What do you normally eat before a big event?

Graduation Week | Makeup + Hair

Hello ShopaHAULics, I just wanted to share with you Pinterest posts that can help you make life a little easier when it comes to looking great on the big day. Humidity and heat, in general, can really make your hair and makeup fall to pieces but these hair styles and makeup will help you out. I picked a lot of up-dos and pulled back looks because I hate it when hair sticks to the back of my neck. Makeup is generally light but I have some cool pops of color pinned onto the board as well. [Also, I cannot get Pinterest embedded into this post but I added the board links for your convenience!]

So, to give you a taste of what is in that link below, here are a couple images you can expect!

Graduation Week | Breathe and What to Do Afterwards

Today, or soon, is your graduation day and you should be proud and happy that your high school/college life is over. You can now start breathing and figuring out what to do with your life in a positive manner. First off, breathe, I cannot tell you how much I stressed during my high school graduation because I was that nervous to walk across that stage. My legs have never felt like jello before until that moment walking across. You should enjoy the fact that you are around your friends and family is watching you from above in the bleachers.

Here are some things to do afterwards because it is time to get the negativity out of your life, only positive things please! Of course, a bumpy road is up ahead but you can try to make it as painless as possible.

1. Remove social media friends. I am talking about those friends who you added or added you because you have a mutual friend, have you ever talked? No? It is good to cleanse people out once you have really thought about who you really want in your life. I have found that stepping away from friendships and realizing who you think about often or daily are probably the people you want to keep in your life. Also, those long ago friendships are good to keep because, who knows, you may bump into them again.

2. If you are looking for a job, Monster is a great resource and so is LinkedIn and I have had both of them but Monster has been a better source for me. I am going off to my new college, as many of you know, so I won’t need these as much but thought I should let you know. Also, try a staffing company that will help you get interviews.

3. Motivate yourself everyday. Seriously though, it is so easy to get down whether it comes from people in your life to social media. Find something that makes you happy, YouTube, motivational quotes, running, listening to music, meditation, yoga, reading etc. The personal it is, the better off you are. I think that friends and family are great but they can also being you down and make a less motivated you. By focusing your motivation on yourself, it really helps keep the focus on you and makes you less dependent on other sources to make you happy.

4. Breathe. I know that I just said this but really try to breathe for a couple of seconds to minutes. Close your eyes or focus on something neutral and breathe. By removing all the stress on you for a short period of time you relax the body and prioritize what is the most important, whether that be what work you have to get done or errands that need to be taken care of.

When is your graduation?

| Graduation Week | Fashion | What to Wear

So, I know that graduation is coming up for a lot of you and I thought that it would be really cool just to send out some food juju and also some tips to help you survive your graduation! This whole week will be dedicated to you, graduates! For this post I will be including Pinterest pics so that you can pin them if you would like!

Some tips to keep you cool in the heat:
– Don’t wear something with too many layers, with so many people it will be scorching –
– Test your shoes because there have been way too many people who tumble across the stage –
– Test out your makeup so that you won’t be sweating it off on the big day –

Outfit Ideas:
I will do my best to find affordable options so depending on the pin presented I searched for options that were in budget for most people.

~ Short and Flowy ~

I love that this dress is light and even though it has long sleeves, it has cut outs so you are able to breathe in it. Not to mention that it is short enough to hide under your gown but long enough to pass the fingertip rule.

You can purchase a similar option here:
Option #1: This one is said to be a bit see through but you can wear a nude slip to cover the pertinence.

~ Classy and Chic ~

Do you want that pop of color under your gown? I love how simple and chic this one is. The material, based on the picture, seems to be light so you will be good to go and stay nice and sweat free.

You can purchase similar options here:
Option #1: A really nice blue dress with a really cool print.
Option #2: A simpler and muted dress that still adds a pop of color without being too overwhelming.

~ Edgy and Graphic ~

Cara Delevigne kind of inspired me for this part of the post because she is edgy and loves graphic anything, really.

You can purchase similar options here:
Option #1: A really cool vintage looking scene with pleats and a geometric hem.
Option 2: Plaid is pretty cool and if it is all over can be a real statement.

What are you wearing to graduation? Or your next fancy event?

Graduation Essentials

Hello ShopaHAULics, Tiffany here, and I have some essentials to share with you that I think you may enjoy. I recently went to my brothers graduation and literally moved back from my dorm the night before the graduation. Waking up early-ish and prepping for the day I knew I didn’t want to have a heavy load of makeup or anything that would be hard to maintain in case we had to go outside to take pictures. So…here is the list of the items I used:

-Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray

-Love My Face Pressed Powder

-Maybelline Lots of Lashes Mascara in black

-Benefit They’re Real Mascara

-Benefit Blush in Coralista

-Cailyn Gel Liner in black

Full reviews will be coming your way starting this week!!
